Hunting Grounds Revealed
Whenever new content is introduced players long thought to be inactive suddenly log in.  This week was no different as the highly anticipated Hunting Grounds finally came to be accessible.  After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, disciples were at last able to discover where the directions acquired from a savage hunter in the trading post would lead them: a rainforest, in Egypt?  Never mind that, there is a new adventure quest to be explored.

Almost immediately we encountered a Witch Doctor whose tribe he informs us was completely slaughtered by “the savages”.   Apocalypto, anyone?  Revenge, we learn, is not a possibility due to his old age and consequently frail bones.  His magic capabilities are intact, however, which he’s willing to share in exchange for bringing him the shrunken heads of the evil savages that wiped out his people.  At the bottom of the page there is a series of trades promising rage, praise, power and a new crest!  And with that the hunting expedition begins.

There are some especially deadly enemies to look out for.  Obrigwabibikwa (no, not a typo) will annoy undoubtedly even the most accomplished of warriors with his elusive fighting technique, venomous spit, and uncanny ability to bring himself to a full heal when on the verge of dying.  There is nothing to indicate that there is an item drop associated with this encounter so far.  We did, however, come across a new camel food item, Honey Fruit, which we found to accumulate rather nicely as Jungle Treants, the creatures from which the artifact is acquired, tend to appear with great regularity.  Then there is Negoogunogumbar, another in a growing list of beasts with peculiar names, who is summoned by The Savage Shaman.  Surviving the onslaught of his heavy smash attacks can sometimes yield a Bone Chest, which is said to contain a multiplicity of shiny valuables.  Last but certainly not least is The Tore, the culminating point of this new adventure, who killed two disciples before finally being bested by then level 100 follower of Sekhmet, Malarthi Behemoth (now anointed Doru).

Other notable changes include the ability to switch between crests right from the statistics cartouche, the option to vault artifacts from the inventory screen, and shimmering tonics now only fill up to 1,000 anima.  Additionally, Ankhet was moved to a different server, which should increase site performance and better handle future content expansion projects. Things are looking up fellow Ankheteers.

Top of the Game honors go to Recklosh this week, making him Hatred’s only representation after Jim’s (N: Hatred) recent conversion from Ahmose.  Djeret Netjer (N: Hem-Netjer) continues to climb the ranks, now holding the second most favour of all Ankhets.  Followed then by his fellow dominion mate, Khedi, who in his first appearance in our listing is able to make the Top 3.  The fourth position remains unchanged with neminem extending his Ankhet streak to 3 weeks.  Meanwhile PorQ Cheops moves up three positions and remains Ankhet of Bast for 2 consecutive weeks.

As we predicted, records are being broken at a remarkable rate with last week's fastest run moving all the way down to sixth.   It would appear that Djeret Netjer has perfected his camel's diet as he beats his own record twice this week, securing in the process the top spot for the second week in a row.  Much to the surprise of everyone, Pakaran edges out veteran camel racer, Jim.  The competition is sure to heat up next week as more players tinker with their camel food options.
